Ocean Pointe Community Center is now Blue Zone Approved!

Blue Zones Project is a community-wide well-being improvement initiative that helps make healthy choices easier for everyone in Hawaii. When our entire community participates, the small changes contribute huge benefits for all of us: lowered healthcare costs, improved productivity, and a higher quality of life.

What Are Blue Zones?

Blue Zones started as a New York Times bestselling book by author Dan Buettner.
Buettner was inspired by communities around the world such as Sardinia, Italy and
Okinawa, Japan where people live vibrant, healthy, and long lives. From his research,
Buettner has developed a wellness program to help others achieve longer, happier
lives.

WELCOME

The Ocean Pointe Residential Community Association (OPRCA) is a nonprofit organization that provides for the management, maintenance, care, and control of common areas and facilities within certain real property located in Ocean Pointe, Ewa Beach, Hawaii 96706.

Blue Zone Power 9

The main guiding principles of the Blue Zones initiative are the Power 9. The Power 9 was inspired by the daily actions taken by people in communities where lifespans are the longest. These communities truly believe that these  principles they live by are the reasons they are able to live for such a long time.

Community Outreach

Blue Zones engages the community by providing activities such as cooking classes, farmer's markets, purpose workshops, volunteering opportunities, Moai walking groups, and a walking school bus group. Blue Zones Moai Walking Group

The Blue Zones Project was brought to Hawai'i by HMSA to help make Hawai'i an even happier, healthier and more vibrant place to live. Blue Zones was inspired by some of the world's longest-living cultures, and their mission is to help people lead longer and healthier lives by changing the environment in which we live.
Whether it be changing our diet, becoming more active, and nurturing personal relationships, we can also make a conscious change to improve our health and lifestyle. For more information on the Hawai'i Blue Zones Project, go tto hawaii.bluezonesproject.com.

One activity that Blue Zones will be bringing to Ocean Pointe is their Moai community walking group. These walking groups will begin at the Ocean Pointe Community Center Lawn and run for approximately 30 minutes once a week. This is a great way to get some physical activity in your day and to build unique friendships with your neighbors in the community! For more information, click here.
